Marathon Mayhem and Memories

I believe it makes life adventurous to have a bucket list. For me, my list is comprised of both personal goals and dreams (that may or may not come to fruition). On Sunday, May 1 one of my personal goals was completed. With the support of my running buddy, Andrew, and the amazing support and love of my family and friends, I was able to finish my first full marathon.

Andrew and I began training in the cold air of January. We followed closely a 15 week training schedule that adequately prepared us for the strenuous 26.2 mile course. Little did we know that training in the cold air of winter would get us ready for a crazy weather day in May.

It began raining at 5:45am as we walked toward to starting gates and it rarely stopped throughout the morning. In addition to the steady rain, we also had the pleasure of "enjoying" a northerly wind and some hail stones. To my surprise, my body responded to my training and felt good the entire race. Andrew and I were even able to give a smile for the camera!

Andrew - having run in a marathon last year - tried to emphasize to me the importance of encouragement from others throughout the race. I thought I understood what he meant; but, I really had no idea. As I ran through the cold rain and wind, there were times that I started to slow down or even shut down. But at just the right time my family would show up with shouts of encouragement. My favortie part was the signs they made! I am so grateful that they were willing to brave the weather to cheer us on!

In the end it was exhilirating to cross that finish line. Andrew and I received our metals and promptly went and consumed two cheeseburgers each! I will never forget this day of accomplishing this goal, the love and support of my family and the discipline it took to finish.

Our New Addition: Baby Boy Kayman Lewis

Kayman Lewis Hobbs came into this world screaming. His Papa said, "Yeah, he saw his daddy and started screaming!" Which I was perfectly happy with because our 3 1/2 year old son Kaison waited a good 25-30 seconds when he was born to say anything. This picture describes it all!!

It was moments after this picture was taken that I had the extreme pleasure of cutting the umbilical cord. After watching my wife push with EXTREME vigor and determination, Kayman came sliding (sorry if that was too graphic :) out and the nursing assistant handed me the scissors. Now, in my estimation, husbands do nothing to help with the birthing process; but, we take great pleasure in taking the scissors and waking away at the fleshly cord. Is it more "manly" to cut than push? I don't know....I'm just stating what happens...

Any whoo, Tara did all the work, God provided his providential care and Kayman came into the world safely. Here are a few family pictures that shows how proud we are of our new addition:

Perhaps the best quote of the day belonged to Kaison. He typically is a whitty three year old, but this fair out weighed them all. When he arrived at the hospital to see his new baby brother, he proudly announced, "Where is baby Kayman, I want to pet him, I want to pet him...!" As you can see in the above picture, he finally got to "pet" his brother.

Gentlemen, lest we forget that the women in our lives are strong all the way through, let me remind you of something. My amazing wife gave birth at 12:24pm on Monday and we went home at 3:00pm on Tuesday! That is simply unbelievable to me! So, after we had the cermonial ribbon cuttings (id braclets at hospital), we packed up our little man in his car seat and took him home. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 3/4 inches long. He was a big baby for our family, but we can already tell that he is even bigger at heart.

Pictures at the Park

It always amazes me how the Hobbs family is able to get some good pictures at a photo shoot. These days of our lives one would think it would be simple to get a few good pics; but, it never fails that the kids last about five mintues before the complaining/bickering kicks in. And like a vaccum I allow there bad moods to suck me right in and before I realize it, my smiles have turned to mean glares and sharp tones/inflections in my voice threatening the kids with their very lives if they do not smile at the camera. Sound familiar? But, in the end, we somehow end up with a few wonderful family pictures.

My favorite memories of family pictures while the kids are toddlers will hands down be their cheezy smiles. No matter who the photographer is they always say something like, "Okay, on three, say cheese...one, two, three!" And my kids throw up the most awkward - Chandler-like (for those Friends fans out there) - smiles I've ever seen. Cracks me up every time...

However, my favorite part of this photo session at Will Rogers Park was being reminded of what a beautiful wife I have. Nine months pregnant and she is still as beautiful as the day I met her. As most of us guys out there, I married way out of my league. I am truly blessed.

Annual Pumpkin Patch Trip

We never have to wonder if we are headed in the right direction to find our pumpkin patch destination. The kids see the over sized, two-story high pop bottle and scream, "Pops! Can we stop there, daddy? Please!" But, we keep going and turn right somewhere out in the middle of nowhere Arcadia...just past the round, red barn.

This year it was fun to go pumpkin perusing with the Mullins family. As you can see from the above picture, the kids did not mind it either. They practically knew that the picture was coming, so they all turned and smiled. The optimist in me calmly thought, "What nice smiles, this can not be good..."

Overall, it was not a bad day. The weather was great! Kadence enjoyed the pony rides and the huge tire swing. And Kaison enjoyed crawling up on the big, green tractor. By the look in his eyes below, he thought he was in total control. I could not help but think, "Look at him, he could take me for a ride on his big green tractor."

Perhaps the best part of the day was climbing onto the hay ride and the tractor driver breaking out in some hill-billy, slap your knee folk song. It felt like we were on an old episode of "Hee-Haw"...for those of you who cannot remember this show...Google it. It is good for a laugh or two...but not three.

Threads of Compassion

I have started a new project tonight. My friend Jessica has started a ministry in Oklahoma City called Thread of Compassion. She is making scarfs for abuse victims and donating them to YWCA. The give the scarfs to ladies who come to their facility seeking help from any kind of abuse. You can read more about her ministry here. Our New House

Well, we were blessed in the last two months to sell our house and get moved in to a new house. It all happened so fast that I barely remember any of it. It was a happy time, as well as a VERY stressful time. If it weren't for Terra and Suzanne lovingly answering my million questions and panicked phone calls, I probably would have died from an anxiety attack. We got the contract on our Beverly house on or around May 10th (like I said, can't really remember). We closed on our Beverly home on May 28th and the Lindsay home on May 28th and 29th. Yes it took us two days to close. :-( We finally got keys on May 30th, but when we showed up they were still in the house. We KINDLY hurried them along to get their junk out so that we were not homeless any longer. Through all the chaos we some how survived and I only cried once. I was so proud of myself!! Thanks again Terra and Suzanne for constantly reminding me that it was all going to work out okay!!

You can really tell that our grass is dying up in the front. That is what happens when your sprinkler system is not fixed like it should have been. It didn't help that we went out of town for a week either!

Tubbs Family Reunion

First off, sorry for all the pictures...In early October we went down to Texas for a big family reunion with my mom's family. We always have lots of fun!! This year we went to the lake and had a great lake house!! It was huge. I think like 20 of us slept in this one house. Kaison even had his own room, in our closet! That thing was HUGE and he was perfectly content. We had white elephant exchange where many crazy gifts were given, even a white elephant - I know so creative. Here is a picture of some of us with our new gifts.

Kadence also had tons of fun playing with her second cousin Addie!! They got to swim, ride on jet skis, play on the playground, more swimming, hiding in boxes, and even hunting for spiders.

Kadence and Kaison also had lots of fun riding the train. My grandpa rigged a make shift train together for them. They had a blast being pulled around in circles. Once Paw got tired, daddy took over. He thought he would give them a thrill and start running. They were going pretty fast. The kids were loving it until the back train derailed. Kaison's car flipped and gave him a nice shiner on his eye. He cried for a second and then wanted back in to go again.

Two posts in one day - Are you proud?
Kadence had her first trip to the dentist a couple of weeks ago. She did a great job. The hygienist and dentist did a great job making her feel comfortable!! She now asks 2-3 times a day to brush her teeth!! She will even let me do it for her, which is a big step. Here are a few pictures from the big day!!

Officially Crafty

I just want to add before you start reading this - THIS IS MY 100TH POST!! YEAH - It has taken me forever, but I have made it!! No big party or cool post, but I will leave you with something that I made!!

I am going to officially consider myself crafty. I actually sewed something else. I have had a sewing machine and finding time to actually use it has been hard. When Kadence started Sonshine School 2 years ago I sewed her two nap mat covers. She was a sweaty sleeper so I was over ambitious and thought she needed one in pink and one in purple. As it always is with your second child, he just got one nap mat. But I am very proud of it and think it turned out really good.

Celebrate Recovery Trip in California

Okay, okay - so after a couple of e-mails from my oh so faithful readers, I will finally update my blog. We have been so busy these last couple of weeks. August started out with a week long trip to California for a Celebrate Recovery training. Micah and I took 10 other people to Saddleback Church and had a great time. It was like being at church camp again. It was the spiritual high that I needed!! I learned so much and it excites me to see so many lives changing and people coming back to the Lord!! We heard great testimonies of people who were lost, but now they are saved because they were introduced to Celebrate Recovery.

I know I am kind of biased of the program, but I truly feel that EVERYONE should come and be a part. Everyone has something in their life that they need recovery for, ie. inpatience, perfectionism, alcoholism, abuse, codependency, and many MANY more). I know this is a whole new mindset for the church. People are really not used to talking about what they struggle with, but I have seen first hand the power of sharing your story and the effect it can have on your life and the lives around you.

So, if you are interested...I am going to be starting an 8 week Bible study that will lead us through the book "Life's Healing Choices." It is written by the Celebrate Recovery founder, John Baker. It is based on the 8 principles that they follow in Celebrate Recovery, but it is a small group study. If you are intersted in participating or just interested in more information please e-mail me.

Okay - for the fun side of our trip!! We went to the beach one night and had dinner. It was amazing!! It was late when we got finished so all our pictures on the beach are dark.

**I typed this up yesterday and forgot to finish it and publish it!!**

Today Micah and I are celebrating our 6th Anniversary. It really doesn't seem like that long ago, but we have come a long way in 6 years. We now have a two wonderful, crazy kids, a great house, and a love stronger than the day we married.

Micah (if you ever actually read this) -
I love you so much. These has been the best 6 years of my life. We have two great kids and I would not chose to go through this with any one else!! You are the best husband and friend.

I am loving this new site. Tic Tag Toe. It has the cutest tags and labels. I just placed my order and I am hoping that I am impressed with what I get. They were pretty reasonable. This is just an example of what the tags look like. They can be attacked to your kids backpack for school. I also ordered matching "waterproof" labels for cups and other things that get sent to school with my kids.

Unattended Child Leads to Bad Things

This is what happens when you leave a 1 year old child unattended for any length of thim. I was trying my hand at homemade ice cream for Kaison's birthday party and I thought Kaison was being really good in the living room. Kadence was watching Curious George and Kaison was really quiet. I figured he was sitting my Kadence watching cartoons. Next thing I know, I hear Kadence let out this blood curdeling scream. I quickly run into the living room to find Kaison like this...

Birthday Present from Mom and Dad!

Kaison got the same thing for his 1st Birthday that Kadence got for her 3rd Birthday. They both got cool chairs made by Sada. She did a great job coordinating the fabrics and surprised me with both. I absolutely love them and they have really enjoyed Saturday morning cartoons in their new chairs.

My baby is now 1 year old. I cannot believe that just a year ago I was in labor and delivering Kaison. He has been such a joy to us this year. Welcome Home

We got home from Colorado yesterday and we had a lovely welcome home gift! I have lots of good stories to share from our trip, but those will have to wait.

As soon as I walked through our door our house smelled like mildew. Micah said he could not smell anything and I was probably not "smelling anything." Well, as I walked down the hall I noticed that the carpet looked kind of dirty and matted. A little confused, I vacuumed before I left, I bent down to touch the carpet and it was soaked. The toilet in our hall bathroom had a leak and all the carpet in the hall and into Kadence's room was SOAKED!! We spent the next couple of hours pulling up carpet and putting fans on it to air it out. Our plumber came out this morning to fix the problem, but it could not be fixed without going through the sheet rock. Gotta Love it!! You can see where he cut his hole. So this is what our hall looks like now. The carpet is almost dry, but we still have a lot of work to do.

Picking Blackberries

Some people have asked where we picked our fresh blackberries this week. Well, here is the e-mail I got from them today. I hope you and your family get to go pick some yummy blackberries!!

You all picked us clean this past week! ....well, of ripe berries. There should be more blackberries waiting for you on Tuesday!

Our blackberries are thorn-less and continually ripen throughout July. We provide picking containers, ice cold water, recipes, wipes, bug spray and smiles! The cost is $2.50 per pound. FIRST FRUITS BERRY FARM is located just 2-1/2 miles north of Waterloo on Kelley (North Edmond).

Always call 341-PICK (7425) to hear our messages giving details as to the dates, time and directions or changes each week - you just never know with the Oklahoma weather or in case the berries need another day or two to ripen.

We put up the inflatable obstacle course and brought up our new sandbox. I think the kids really had a good time. It was a Little Mermaid theme and it was really cute. Here are a few pictures...

Mission Complete!!

WARNING - This post will not be interesting to all. And is one that Kadence will hate me for later.

After many weeks of being "tee tee" trained, Kadence finally pooped in the potty!! She was complaining to me that she needed to potty so I sent her in there unsupervised. When I went to check on her it stunk in the bathroom. I asked her if she needed to poop and she said, "Mom, I already did." (Spoken with a real matter of fact tone, like duh!)

Micah and I were so excited that she asked if she could poop again. Well, like Kate on John and Kate plus 8, we had to take her picture with her first poopy. She was so proud and I was too!!!

Jury Duty is Over!!

Well, this week was my turn to take off from work to serve our city in jury duty. At first I was really reluctant and not very excited, but after the judge came in on Monday he really convinced me that this is something that I should feel priviledged to do. He helped me realized that if I was in a situation where I needed a jury to convicted someone that may have hurt my family that I would want the jury to want to be there and not thinking about how quickly they could get out there.

I was picked for a jury and had to report to the Juvenile Center yesterday morning. The judge came in and explained a little about what would happen and informed us that the case we would be working with was one of relinquishing parental rights. My heart immediately sunk. I was thinking we would be dealing with kids who had broken the law, not deciding if a mom is worthy to keep her kids or not. I immediately got nervous, but decided that I could make a rational decision based on what was in the best interest for those kids.

After about 3 hours of waiting in a room waiting for them to call us back, the baliff came in and announced that the mom decided to relinquish her rights when she heard there was a jury waiting to hear the case. I guess she knew she was guilty and that she probably would not win. I was kind of relieved, but I would have been really interested in the experience. I pray for those kids and hope that they have a great family waiting for them to take care of them!!

So, when you get your summons to serve on jury duty!! Go in to it with the right attitude and be the person that you would want on the jury if you were needing one!! (Sorry for the soapbox!!)

Aunt Fancy

While we were in Texas we also got to see a lot of family. Kadence has an Aunt Fancy that likes to give tattoos!! Kadence thought this was the coolest thing and is still talking about Aunt Fancy and her butterfuly tattoo on her foot.

I'm Back...Again

Wow - I can't believe how much has happened since I posted last. I guess that is what I get for taking a blog vacation. I have been reading and checking up on you guys, but finding the time to download pictures and gather my thoughts has just seemed to be impossible.

Since I blogged last my older brother, Trent has graduated from optometry school in Houston. We were down in Houston for that and had a great time!! It seems weird that he is officially a doctor and now I can go to him for all my eye care needs. Like free glasses and contact lenses...right Trent? :-) The ceremony was like 2 hours long, but the kids did pretty good. Right before my brother was supposed to walk across and be hooded Kadence announced to everyone that she was wet and that she needed a clean diaper. It was kind of funny, but also emabarrasing!! She was waving her diaper in the air yelling, "Mommy, I'm Wet!!" I was sitting at the opposite end of the row from her, that is why she was yelling. Here are a few pictures of his big day!

Today I was talking to Kadence about how she is a big girl now and how big girls ONLY wear big girl panties and pee pee in the big girl potty. She was really ignoring me, so I just kept on. "If you want to be a Princess you need to pee pee in the potty." I was desperate for anything that would make her say, "Okay Mommy, I'll pee pee in the potty. What did she say, "This is siwious!!" (Thanks Gena for the spelling). If you watch Wonder Pets you know the tune in which she said it in. I tried not to laugh, but it really was kind of humorous. Needless to say, we are still not using the big girl potty.

Every year I have some yellow tulips that bloom in my front yard. I love them because I don't do anything to them, they just appear for a few weeks at the beginning of spring. I figured I would take advantage of them and try to get a good photo or two of the kids in front of them. It was good thing I did it last week, because they are now gone. Kadence was wanting a snack, so we were bribing her to sit next to Kaison. We got her to sit there, but looking at the camera was a different story.

New Flower Bed

Saturday was a very productive day around our house. Since we moved in to our house I have wanted to tear up some bricks that extended from our patio. They were shifting and it was just a place for weeds to grow. I have wanted to put a flower bed in there and finally yesterday that was accomplished. I just want to preface, before I post any pictures, that I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about flowers. So before all you 'green thumb' people say, "she planted that," just know that I didn't know what I was doing.

Okay - one more post for today. I promise this is my last one. Tonight at dinner Kadence suprisingly ate all of her chicken and green beans. She even ate a piece of bread, which she wants at every meal of the day. I have a child who absolutely loves bread. I was really impressed with how well she ate, so I told her that I would give her a surprise later. I knew I had a little bit of cookie dough left in the fridge, so I planned on making her a cookie. She was complaining that we made her get down from the table without her surprise and that is when we heard...THIS...Her ears perked up and said, "Mommy, what's that?" I had this grand idea all of the sudden and said, "That is your surprise!!" Her face absolutely lit up and her and Micah ran outside. I ran and got the camera and a dollar. I have never seen her be so nice to a strange man driving a van that plays music. She picked what she wanted and was even willing to get her picture taken with the ice cream truck. Maybe this will qualify me for "Mom of the Year!!"

I Love Days Off!!

Today both Micah and I had the day off. Kadence went to SonShine School, so we only had Kaison and he takes good naps!! :-) We started off our day with a little spring cleaning. When I get in the mood, man things get done!! So after a little spring cleaning, groceries got bought, and then....a BIG package arrives at our door. So all my hard work then turned into a little fun!! A few hours later....and I have this.

A new comforter for my bed. I have been wanting to make our room more "romantic", but just hadn't found the right set. Then I saw this one and really loved it!!
Now, all I have to do is change the color of my walls. The red really does not match anymore. I hate to cover the red wall, because a lot of sweat and tears went in to the EIGHT coats that it took to get it all covered.

Now I can't wait to go to bed and sleep on my new, clean sheets!!

Bikini Boot Camp - FINALLY OVER!!

Well, I can officially say that I am done with 12 straight weeks (besides Spring Break) of working out at 6:00 AM. Everyone kept telling me it would get easier, but after 12 weeks I still have to drag myself out of bed against my own will. Now, the working out got easier (Thanks Elizabeth), but the waking up was miserable. I was alway fine once I did it though. I have to say that I feel great and there is actually a muscle or two popping up. It was fun and well worth the sore muscles and fatigue. Hey - maybe I'll even do it again someday!!

Here is a random conversation Kadence and I had yesterday.
Jana - I think this may need some explaination!!
Last night on the way home from church I asked Kadence, "What does Mrs. Jana have in her tummy?" And her response..."Brother."

I just laughed and said, "Well, its a baby like brother, but not YOUR brother."
I thought it was cute that she thinks all babies are her brother.

Spring Break

Well, we had a really eventful Spring Break. The plans we originally made all got canceled, but that was okay. My mom called us on our way down to Texas and told us that her good friend from work passed away from her battle with cancer. She was an amazing woman. She always had a smile and a positive outlook despite her circumstances.

While mom helped make a slide show for the funeral, Micah and I took the kids to the park. For the first time, Kadence met a girl there with the same name (except they spelled it Kadenz). She was really confused and kept saying, "No, I'm Kadence."

Wednesday Micah kept the kids for a while so my mom, sister, and I could go shopping. We both bought cute dresses to wear on Easter and Easter basket gifts for the kids. I tried not to go overboard, but I can't say the same thing about my mom. We both did refrain from buying candy to stuff in the eggs, but Kadence did get a really cute table, umbrella, chair, shovel, and gloves to play with outside. Kaison got the matching boy chair, but he was still a little young for the whole Easter egg hunting. (I keep typing Eater instead of Easter...ooops). They looked adorable in their outfits, but somehow I did not get a picture of them together.

I couldn't ever get a smile out of her.

This final picture you can see what Kadence really wanted to do with her Easter eggs. I am not sure what she was thinking, but she stayed extremely still for a long time so the eggs would not fall off. Crazy girl!!

I'm Back

Food for Thought

Tuesday night was our quarterly Women's RefresHER. I absolutely love going to these events. One, because I get to leave the kids at home and have a really nice meal with with other women and friends. Two, I love these because a women boldly shares what God has done in their life. It is so inspiring to hear their transformation stories and see what God has brought them out of. This last Tuesday, Pam Richards shared with us how God transformed her life. She used an example that I just loved. She had a package of flower seeds on every table to each of us to have. She talked about how we are just like those seeds. If we just poured them out on the table they are not going to do much. They may even eventually rot away. However, if you invest a little time in the seed, plant it, and even water it you will see amazing results. Each seed is covered in an outer shell that only disengrates after being planted and watered. Under the shell is a tiny germ of life. After you break through that shell you will be able to see this beautiful flower that is hiding inside. Seeds cannot reproduce and make more seeds, but flowers grow and make more seeds and possibly even more flowers. We are like that seed. We only grow into a beautiful flower if we plant ourselves in God's word and allow him to break through our shell. Then we can be effective for Him in producing more flowers and spreading His Kingdom.

Married to Ministry

I guess you could call this a shameless plug for the new website that Summer helped start for women in ministry. Married to Ministry will seek to strengthen ministry families in a variety of ways. There is a weekly devotional thought; there is a blog spot, where a woman (ministry leader's wife, elder's wife, minister's wife, etc) is talking about her day-to-day life as a wife. This month I am the featured ministers wife. :-) On the 15th of each month they will highlight a woman in ministry. There will also be a discussion board to talk about issues facing women who serve alongside their husbands with topics ranging from child-rearing with a congregation watching to finances to developing your own spiritual walk. From time to time it will include a discussion with a preacher's kid (both past and present). This website will allow women from any country to communicate and learn from each others experiences. Kadence's Haircut

I finally took Kadence to Katie to get her hair cut. Her bangs were almost completley grown out, so I just had her cut it almost as short as her bangs. She looks really cute and less grown up than she was with the really long hair. That is okay with me!!

Bronchitis, Two Ear Infections, maybe even Pneumonia...

These are 7 words you hate to hear come out of your pediatricians mouth. All day Sunday and Monday morning Kaison was running a fever. At its highest it was 103.7. Luckily it did not stay there for long because I really did not want to go to the emergency room. Monday morning I finally called and got him in to the doctor. He had been throwing up, really congested, and had a nasty cough. It didn't take Dr. Stephens long to figure out that he definitely had bronchitis and two ear infections. Without doing an x-ray he couldn't tell if he really had pneumonia or not, but he was going to treat him as if he did. The poor guy had to get a steroid shot and start breathing treatments every night. Since Kaison seems to be prone to getting bronchitis, Dr. Stephens is afraid that he might have asthma. Please pray that Kaison starts to improve soon so that we don't have to go in for a chest x-ray!! Thanks!!

I made a big mistake of making a big deal to Micah about how I did not want flowers for Valentine's Day. I have a hard time justifying the $60+ they spend when I could go buy a new outfit or something that will not die after 2 or 3 days. (I do not have a green thumb! I just can't keep things alive). I did fail to mention that I did not want flowers the day before Valentine's Day. Today is a special day!! Micah proposed to me 6 years ago today!! It really seems like yesterday.

About the cost of the flowers, he actually won these!! I was so relieved. He said he had ordered them the day before I made my spill about not wanting flowers, but his name was drawn in a contest to get them for free!! Lucky me - Now I can get roses and a new outfit for Valentine's day!!

I hope that everyone else has a romantic, fun filled day tomorrow!!

I have mentioned before that I am always looking for a bargain. I have been holding on to a copoun to CVS for a $30 gift card if you transfer a prescription there. I finally needed to refill Kadence's Singulair so I finally got my gift card. Since we are constantly needing diapers and formula, I figured that should be what I spend my gift card on. Lucky for me, if you spent $20 on certain Proctor & Gamble products you could get and extra $5 back. With all my coupons combined I was able to get everything in the picture below for $2.90. I couldn't believe it. I actually had another coupon for the diapers, but somehow I misplaced it. My total savings on this trip was $42.50.

First Tooth and Sitting

Well, Kaison has gotten his first tooth. I noticed it two weeks ago, but it is just now big enough to take a picture of. I think the one next to it is close behind. He is just chomping at the bit to get to eat some "real" food. He likes veggies okay, but refuses to eat any kind of cereal. I did discover yesterday that he LOVES pickles!! Here is my best shot of taking a picture of his tooth.

Also, Kaison is sitting up by himself!! He is a bit wobbly, but he can hold himself up for a short time!!

Beautiful Day at the Zoo!

What beautiful weather we had yesterday! Can you believe that is was 77 degrees in February? Well, thanks to the Zoo having free M0nday's in February, my kids and I got to get out and enjoy God's beautiful creation. We met Lisa and Karli Bialon there for lunch and then had a fun stroll through the zoo. It was absolutely beautiful and the girls had such a great time. I was able to snap a few pictures too!!

We didn't want to get lost!! They loved holding each others hand. I think Kadence is obsesed with holding hands with her friends.

Before she has been afraid of this big gorilla, but today we conquered our fear and rode on his back!! Way to go Kadence!!

Random Facts and Stomach Virus

I know this went around a while back, but I never participated no matter how many times I got tagged. Well, I am isolating myself from my family today because they all have a stomach virus and I DO NOT want to get sick. This morning I left them all in my bed asleep and went to get my butt kicked by Elizabeth. Thanks girl - I needed a reason to get out of the house!! Hopefully I am not too sore to take care of them now!!

Okay - since Kaison has started formula I have been trying to save money any where I can. I have even resorted to cutting coupons, which I grow to hate real quickly!! I came across a website from someone else's blog called Baby Cheapskate (www.babycheapskate.com). Each day or so the lady posts bargains that you can find at well known stores, such as Old Navy, Baby Center, Amazon.com, etc. She does all the dirty work for you and will post when Target and Wal-Mart have sales on their diapers or formula. It is nice to have someone else do the leg work for you!!

I also found a website wwww.afullcup.com. It is a discussion board type page where people post deals that they have found or links to coupons. It also has a Target and CVS coupon generator that will pring their store coupons that they have out at that time. I have found the CVS coupons to be great for us!! I know I have told some of you my savings story from CVS, so if you have heard it already I am sorry!!

On A Full Cup you can print a coupon to CVS that if you fill a new or transferred prescription you can get a $25 gift card free. They also had several other coupons that you could print like $5 off a purchase of $20 and $5 off Energizer batteries. It just happens that I had two prescriptions that I needed have filled. I took them in on two separate days and on both days got a $25 gift card. Also, last week their Energizer batteries were on sale for $5.29. So with my $5 off coupon I got an 8 pack of batteries for $0.29. What a deal!! I didn't buy too much other stuff that night, but the next time I went I was able to get 3 cans of Nestle GooNowdstart Natural Cultures formula for free. I also got a couple of gift bags, cough syrup, more batteries, cough drops, and Kleenex. I left the store with $12 left on my gift card!! I could have gotten another free can of formula, but I was in a hurry and did not go back to get it. Did I mention that both prescriptions together only cost $10. That is all I paid out of pocket for EVERYTHING!! You can't beat that!!

So, all you frugal people out there who want to save money but don't want to keep up with what each store has on sale that week, check out A Full Cup. Yesterday Corban and Landice came over to play. I raked a few leaves for them to play in. Kadence wasn't quite as excited as Corban and Landice. She had more fun riding in the wagon!! Here are a few pictures.

We're On a Roll

Well, Kaison has officially joined the ranks of all the kids that can roll from his back to his tummy and then to his back again. He tackled both of them in one day. We knew it was coming soon because sometimes he would wake up in his bed on his stomach. We finally got to witness it for ourselves. It takes him a little while sometimes, but Kadence is very proud of his new accomplishment. She really has trouble letting him do it by himself though. Here is the video to prove our new feat!!

Race for the Cure

This last Sunday my family and I took part in the Austin, TX Race for the Cure against Breast Cancer. My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year ago and is now cancer free!! Her strength and ability to see the good in her situation inspired me so much!! She truly is a survivor. Here are a few pictures from our weekend.

This year for Halloween Kadence was a black cat and Kaison was a giraffe. I wanted Kadence to be a Zebra, but she was scared of it. Oh well. She made a very cute cat as well!! She started off kind of nervous about the whole trick-or-treating thing, but as soon as she learned that she got candy from the people she had no problems. She didn't have time to say "trick-or-treat". She just walked up to the person with the candy and grabbed a handful. At least most people thought she was cute doing it. She just performed and entertained everyone! Here are a few of our best pictures!

Her bag was getting too heavy for her to carry. Eventually she just started dragging it on the ground.

5. Who eats more? That is debatable when I am nursing, but usually him.

8. Who sings better? Hmmm...we both struggle to carry a good tune.
9. Who is smarter? I would say me, but he definetly knows more Bible facts than I do.
10. Whose temper is worse? ME - Micah very seldom loses his temper.

12. Who takes out the garbage? Only Micah, unless it stinks really bad and he is not coming home for a couple of hours.

22. Whose parents do you see the most? Both about equally, we always try to keep touch with my parents so they can watch Kadence & Kaison grow up. They haven't gone longer than a month without seeing either one since Kadence was born.

24. Who asked who out? I asked him out. I had a crush on him and he had no idea. So I invited him to go swimming with me and my friends. It was definetly love at first site, or third, or hundreth.

Okay - so Micah, being the great husband and father that he is, decided he would get the kids ready on Saturday while I splet in a while. We were going to his parent's house to watch the OU game that afternoon so he got the kids in the OU attire and then "attempted" to fix Kadence's hair. Now...he has gotten her ready for Sonshine School many times without me, but never has he been brave enough to attempt pigtails. I think the picture says everything!! I am so glad that I came to her rescue before she was taken out into public and embarrassed. (I was probably more worried about my own embarrassment.)
